Adaptive Swim Lessons
According to the National Autism Association (June 2016), the risk of death by drowning is twice as high for children with ASD than in the general population. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, accidental drowning accounted for 91% of injury-related deaths in the U.S among children with ASD ages 14 years and younger.

Hello! My name is Charlotte Deuel! I started this swim school when I realized that children with disabilities were struggling to keep up in classes that were not designed to allow them to grow and excel. I focus on water safety as I teach important swimming skills. I meet the children where they are and build a plan specific to them in order to reach our goals. This specific program ensures that children can be safe in and around the pool area.
Pricing- $30 per lesson
Scheduling- I think adaptive is my go to word and my scheduling follows that theory. I charge $30 per lesson but the amount of lessons is up to the parents. I will advise and accommodate but the frequency and amount of lessons is ultamently your choice. I also like to set up goals that can assist in this decision.
If you have any questions please reach out!
When I was 9 years old my life flipped upside down. My then brother was 2 years old and was just diagnosed with Asbergers which is now on the Autism spectrum. I still remember the day my parents were told and when I learned the news. Then we watch probably every video on autism that was available on Youtube and a few my mom was able to access through school. My whole family kept moving forward and we did everything possible to encourage and support Jude! I admired my brother more than anyone in this world! He is high functioning and although were fortunate we also had a lot of struggles to overcome. One of those is where to find support and services that can be there for him. I have been in the swimming world for 12 years and taught lessons for 5 years. In all that time I have not seen many organizations that were designated to help individuals with disabilities. I strive to constantly learn and adapt to each individual child and their specific needs to keep them safe and help them be supported.

Absolutely! I want life to be easy and I understand needing to go to several locations for lessons can be difficult.
I rent out several pools in the Omaha area! I most often use Genesis on 132nd and Center because they have been most accommodating for my lesson needs. I rent out a few other locations around Omaha so that I can reach more families in need.
Bring the kiddo in a swim suit! I have anything else that would be needed! If they have an object that they love and can be put in water you may bring that as well! If they use goggles you may bring them but they are not needed and I will go times without them.
It is normal for children to be afraid of water. Especially, when it is new. The fear of water is understandable but it is important to learn to swim despite that fear. If your kiddo is afraid there are several things that you can do! First, take it easy and slow. Be proud of every small victory! They will come around but they need to be in the water to learn about it.
Nope! If a child is struggling in normal lessons then feel free to contact me!
A parent needs to be present for the first lesson to sign paperwork. After that any caregiver or individual over the age of 18 is welcome to bring them.
A parent needs to be present for the entire lesson.
I am rather flexible with cancelation policies! Just let me know that you can't make it and we can either look for a different time or we can just see each other at our next scheduled time!
